Palembang - South Sumatra Archaeological Center reviewed the location of the gold discovery suspected to be a relic of the Kingdom of Sriwijaya in the Cangal area, Ogan Komering Ilir. The Archaeological Team confirmed there was gold and historical objects at the location.
"Based on the study, the location of the old settlements, if from what time it was there since the beginning of AD. Incidentally when our team visited found the discovery of old relics at the site," said the Head of South Sumatra Archaeology, Budi Wiyana met reporters at the district government office OKI, Wednesday (9/10/2019).
Not only that, Budi claimed that there were residents who found beads made of gold. But not yet known in the mass and what year the beads were made.
Yesterday we found a bead made of gold. Now, for the masses we see Indo-Pacific beads. In fact, there were also found house poles and it needs to be examined to find out when they were made, "said Budi.
The location of the Sriwijaya treasure hunt was in the area of the former forest fire. The location of the treasure hunt is precisely in the vacant land which has now been made a 500 hectare canal.
One resident who joined the treasure hunt, Denni, said that the discovery of the treasure had actually happened when the burned land in 2014 and 2015 went out. At that time, the river water at the location receded, so that the residents mentioned accidentally found gold.
"I do not agree to say the inheritance of the Kingdom of Srivijaya, but if it is said the Srivijaya masses yes. This I agree and we will still be careful to ensure that," he said.
