15 New Positive Cases, Palembang Corona Red Zone

Palembang City was designated as a red zone of the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19) after there were 15 cases of new local transmission on Friday (17/4). In total there were 54 positive Covid-19 patients in South Sumatra.

Spokesperson for the Task Force for the Co-19 Sumsel Coordination Acceleration Zen Ahmad said the addition of positive cases in South Sumatra today was 17 cases. A total of 15 patients were residents of Palembang, one resident of Banyuasin, and one resident of Bandung.

"With the addition of significant cases and local transmissions, we declare Palembang the red zone," Zen said.

He revealed that the new case was the result of tracing from a previous positive case that infected Palembang residents. The majority of positive patients are people without symptoms (OTG).

"Clinically they are healthy. Of the 17 new cases, 14 are OTG. Three others are treated. People who are confirmed with mild or asymptomatic symptoms can be independent isolation at home. Or independent isolation in special facilities," he said

The determination of the red zone in Palembang has an impact on the treatment of residents. Now, Palembang residents with one respiratory complaint will be the ones under surveillance (ODP).

While people who experience more than one symptom will be assigned as a patient under surveillance (PDP).

Related to the possibility of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), Zen claimed not to be able to conclude. The policy requires careful consideration and readiness of local governments to implement it.

"Our PSBB has not been able to answer because there is a special study, multifactorial and multidimensional. Of course that will be approved by the Ministry of Health. There is no PSBB plan," he said.

The number of ODP in South Sumatra currently reaches 2,338 people, 1,797 people have finished monitoring and are still being monitored 541. While there are 88 PDPs, 59 are negative while 29 others are still being treated.

While the samples examined by Palembang Health Laboratory Center (BBLK) were 269 specimens. Of that number there are 54 positive, 98 negative, 117 others are still in the examination process. (idz / wis)
